The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers recently invited Han van Loon to run a STARS leadership workshop with Spanish leaders of the future.
The workshop was dun at the Hospederia de Colegio Fonseca, part of the University of Salamanca in Spain. The workshop was organized by Emilio Corchado who did a magnificent job in arranging the workshop in conjunction with several international conferences and provided a excellent venue in the Hospederia de Colegio Fonseca.
The workshop was attended by 9 participants from various engineering industries and areas of Spain, including La Coruna, Madrid, Malaga and Salamanca. The workshop covered the STARS personal theme; the importance of understanding how people think and optimizing thinking modes for how various situations and goals; the team theme and how to foster teamwork and team synergy; the culture theme and organizational collaboration and the use of the TIMEWhirlpool method for goal oriented team building.
Part of the course used a business simulation to assess the meaning of competition and its impact on individuals and teamwork. There were multiple exercises and related review - reflection sessions to allow the participants to discuss the exercises and embed the lessons learned.
