Macau was a former Portuguese colony sitting on a small peninsular of China and is about 1.5 hours boat ride from Hong Kong. Attached by several bridges from the peninsular is also an island.
Beside its history, if Macau is famous for one thing, it is that it has long been the gambling mecca of the the Chinese geographic region. There are several hug Chinese casinos, including the Grand Lisboa, and all the major American casinos bought licenses there, and proceeded to make copies of their Las Vegas casinos.
However the most famous, and photographed, building is actually a ruin. The St Paul church was consists only of the frontage, the rest is long gone.
Macau is even more blighted by people running around with 'selfie-sticks', a monopod like stick on which they mount their mobile phone or camera to take photo of themselves obscuring the sights.
